These children come from all ethnicities and economic groups. They have all experienced things no child should have to endure; some far worse than others. Neglect and Abuse are the biggest reasons children end up in care. Substance Abuse specifically is an epidemic in our area.

Teenagers that enter foster care often have serious mental, emotional, and physical health problems due to the neglect and abuse they have received. This creates a life-long struggle for them as they seek to make sense of the world in which they live. Unfortunately, they usually end up with the same problems their parents had that put them in care in the first place.

2 years in foster care is a long time to wrestle with serious questions that plague these children. Why don’t my parents love me? Is it my fault that I’m in foster care? Why does the world seem to be against me? Who am I? Is the pain I’m experiencing worth overcoming? What does my future hold? Will I ever succeed in life?

What do these children need while they are in care? They need good foster homes to stay in. They need people willing to love them in a way that is new to them. They need someone willing to weep with them. Someone willing to laugh with them. Someone willing to teach them how to throw a ball or put on makeup or drive a car. They need adults willing to make an investment in their lives so they know that they have value, dignity, and worth. Are you up for the task? Our foster children NEED you!
